Snow on the ground
Oulunsalo, Finland
Hi everyone,
We have been a little tardy on keeping our newsletters up to date. I've
been working on the web site and hope to have it live after this weekend.
We had snow a while ago and then it warmed up and most of it melted unless in a deep
shadow. Then it started again on Monday and has been cold enough so it is staying on the ground.
The attached photo of the house was taken about an ninety minutes ago. The last three
days have ranged from +1°C (34°F) to -10°C (14°F).
I had studded tires installed a week ago. Even with those almost everyone
drives like we all have a fresh egg taped to the bottom of our shoe. The
Volvo has been running perfect; I just have to figure out how you wash
a car at -10°C (14°F). I may have to break down and go to a car wash.
All the taxis are clean so I'll have to ask a driver sometime.
As many of you know, I've never been a morning person. My hat is off to
Mary Ann for heading to the bus at -10°C (14°F) in the dark this
morning at 0700 (90 minutes before sunrise). I'd drive.
We have not seen the "Northern Lights" yet.
I'm off to buy more warm socks. More later.
