Street musicians were just part of the scene!  Rheda to the left with the two-tone blue jacket and Elisabeth Young with the red backpack. (2376)

There were music groups set up on numerous street corners throughout the area. (EY283)

This musician and his group were in costume. Look at the size of his "guitar". (EY287)

Lori, Elisabeth, Marie-Camille and Mary Ann as we wander the streets listening to the music and looking for someplace to eat dinner. (2379)

Typical side street in downtown Helsinki. The gorilla is advertising the "Brazil" brand name. (2439))

I appreciate that they have painted the decorations on the building a contrasting color rather than just paint over them with the building color. (2441)

Another inviting park by a church. (2442)

Playground outside the church. (2443)

The largest wooden church in Finland. (2444)

We never figured out whether they were amateurs having a good time or paid actors advertising something! (2445)

The gorilla on the Hotel Torni.  (I've since recognized the "Brazil" on the cup as a Finnish brand name.) We went to the bar on the top floor after dinner. It is one of the taller buildings in town and has great views. (2446)

The parks in Helsinki are very clean and there are always people visiting. (2447)

Mary Ann checking out the Lord Hotel. The architecture of the building was interesting. (2448)

The party table. They would eat some crayfish and then drink a schnapps. Then eat one crayfish, drink one snaps and sing a song. Finally, no crayfish, only snaps and songs. (2456)

And our table. We were a little more subdued. (EY280)

The streets have recovered from the Night of the Arts City Festival. (2459)

And to be fair to the competition, one of the Silja Line ferries. (2464)

The island's dry docks, over 100 years old, are still in use. (2470)

View back to the west side of the city from our lunch table. Our hotel is over that way and behind one of the large buildings, the Carnival Princess is being finished. (2471)

The truck just fits the door. SISU is a Finnish brand. The word does not have a direct English translation but means tough like a Mack truck, "the right stuff" or someone who won't quit. (2488)

A non-siren run. (2489)
